Those who have registered Email address income tax department and whose email address or mobile number is associated with more than 10 Income Tax Accounts will get emails from Income Tax Department. On the same lines as credit card and bank transactions, by sending real time messages (via sms) and emails, the Income Tax department will soon start updating taxpayers on the status of their I-T refunds and the processing of certain tax statements. department has requested all such Taxpayers to update their Email and mobile number on Income Tax E-Filing website. It also sends list of users registered with common email id and common mobile number along with email.A robust software and hardware platform that would host and streamline the personal email addresses and mobile numbers of an individual or any other entity who files an Income Tax return, electronically or manually has deployed by the department,s system wing.
Validation of email and mobile number is important for taxpayers because due to the mistake of emails and mobile number, taxpayers did not receive important communication from Income tax Department. In some cases if the emails and mobile numbers are correct, but the taxpayers are not able to reset their password which is temporarily set form department and which may differ from taxpayer’s personal email. The central board of Direct Taxes, the apex authority of the I-T department, has recently notified new rules stating taxpayers filing their returns this year (assessment year 2014-15) will have to manditorily share their personal email addresses and mobile numbers with the department.
The new measure will make a great difference in addressing the objection of taxpayers with regard to refunds and issues in filing of I-T returns.
